Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 13, 2026
Diende ("we", "our", "the app") is a random-picker tool available as a website (diende.com) and as an Android app. This policy explains what information is collected, how it's used, and the choices you have — across both the website and the Android app.
Summary
- The Android app does not require an account and does not collect any personal information.
- Lists you create are stored only on your device unless you explicitly choose to sign in or share a list on the website.
- We don't run ads, analytics, or tracking of any kind.
- We don't sell or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing.
Information we collect
What's collected depends on how you use Diende:
- Anonymous / local lists: your list items, list name, and pick history are stored only in local storage on your device. This data never leaves your device, except that when you tap "Pick Next" your current list of options is sent to our server so it can choose one at random — the response is not linked to you or your device in any way, and nothing is stored on our servers as a result. If your device has no network connection, the app picks locally on your device instead.
- Shared public lists: if you choose to share a list, its name, items, and resulting pick history are stored on our servers so the shared link works for anyone who opens it. This does not include your name, email, or any other personal identifier — anyone with the link can view it.
- Signed-in accounts: if you create an account to save private lists, authentication is handled by our identity provider (Clerk), which collects your email address to manage sign-in. Your saved lists and pick history are stored on our servers, associated with your account, and are private to you.
Sign-in and list sharing are currently available on the Diende website. The Android app's first release supports anonymous local lists only, but may add sign-in and list sharing in a future update — if it does, the same practices described above will apply, and this policy will be updated accordingly.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of service providers to run Diende:
- Clerk — authentication for the website's optional sign-in.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosts our backend and database.
- Cloudflare — hosts and serves the website.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security practices; we don't share your data with anyone beyond what's needed to provide the service.
Data retention and deletion
Local list data stays on your device until you clear it (e.g. using "New List") or uninstall the app. Shared and account-saved lists are kept until you delete them; deleting your account removes your saved lists.
Children's privacy
Diende is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
